wheeeeee...

time check: 10.41am..

in slighly more than 12 hours time, my arse will be on a flight leaving for tokyo! for two months!! i can hardly believe it.. the day i have been looking forward too.. (altogether now: wheeeeee!!!!) :p

just last week i was struggling with my exams. all 3 of them. the last of the last.. cant believe how 4 years have flown by just like that. i mean.. thats so damn freaking fast!! all the friends ive made. the bonds ive formed.. the getting used to university life and all.. now its time to uproot myself again and start a new chapter.. (though its a new chapter im already used to.. sigh.)

its hard imagining life after nus. not waking up and walking past the rooms of friends and neighbours. sharing the communal bathroom as we brush our teeth, wash our face and shower (and of coz not forgetting the piss and shit. lolx.) the jio-ing of each other for dinner and supper. the soccer nights in the mpsh. oh man oh man oh man.. so sads!! dont worry guys. i promise to visit!!!

ah well.. intermission time. in between 2 halves in a musical got the intermission break. in between drama serial episodes got commercial break. so in between 2 chapters of my life must also have break. holiday break!! :p hahaa. lame yes i know.. but isnt that so so me? :p

so tokyo here i come! next post will be made when ive set foot on japanese soil!! :p

wheee.

whos to blame?

so who can I blame? do I push it to someone else? exonerating myself of responsibility? or do I take it like the man I am.. or at least supposed to be.. so what now? its obviously my doings, I've got to face the truth. like it or bot, sometimes the truth hurts.. and like a bitch too.

I wish for all in the works
never to have to have to see
meant to be is meant to be
to the future it holds
let the sun rise from the west
you see how the moon us square
down the well I sit

would you rather peel off that plaster slowly and experience prolonged pain, or rip it off in a flash and bare the spilt second agony?

control

ive come to realise that i cant have everything under my control. theres just some things i have to let go, accept that i have no say. but im sure its apparent. the feeling sucks. the feeling of helplessness, of not knowing what will happen next, coz out of the million and one possible occurances, just about any one could be next.

now everyones so busy
why is it a must to go through this
did you know its not necessary
you sure you prefer it
take one step back and observe
that everyone have different abilities
one may be good at memorising
extra time spent not needed
step back into yourself
away to where your dreams lie

i too have realised, that what i want, im clearer now.

its like studying now for exams
not like i put a lot of pressure on myself
some of the others sure do
name a few, i better not
or relying on that degree cert
title is all it is
but think its their great passport
some people do just that
acknowledgment is from your future boss
that what impression
you leave is more crucial
feel like a job was meant to be yours
that is how passion is born
way to go little one
too bad time waits for noone
be there always
it will make you cherish all
physical hurdles i will conquer
emotional ones hard to say
or how will things turn out
even i cannot decide
mental strength is most important

but yet its hard to convince others to see my point of view

not forgetting all my friends
some day we will definitely meet again
moments like now, i feel nostalgic
hot drinks taste best when its cold
and i wish i didnt have to move on
another day here is what i want
cold and lonely, it rarely is
leaving this phase
me thinks the chapter is about done
confused and uncertain
to venture out and explore
what is next, only God knows
you see, i dont have to be afraid
feel the strength flow in me

cuckoo clock.

no i dont mean the clock with the bird popping out to announcing the hours and the halves in between..

im referring to my body clock, which regulates when i sleep, how long i sleep and when i feel like sleeping..

after the trials and tribulations of the week that just passed, im now feeling sleepy at the weirdest of times. im too used to turning in at 8am and waking no later than 12noon.. feeling sleepy at 1am and waking 2 hours later. and then lasting all the way to the morning.. but yet, it doesnt happen the same sequence in a pattern..

take today. i fell asleep at about 2.. woke up at 4.. now its almost 2pm and im stil super duper awake and alert.. it doesnt feel as though im surviving on minimal sleep.. weird!!

on that note.. sitting here in the hall library.. im surrounded by the nerdy looking ones (no offense yall) and most if not all are foreigners (again.. no hard feelings right?)..

nothign wrong with that.. its me! what the heck am i doing in hall on a saturday afternoon? never before have i been in this situation. one friday night burnt.. now it looks like another saturday night, on top of the saturday that is already half passed..

the week of the living dead.

well well well.. hearty congrats to myself. this week is officially the most studious week of my entire nus phase!

in short. design 2 project individual unit report was due last thur. after working on it as per normal, the time had come to stepped up the gears and work harder, faster, etc..

waking up at 12 noon on wed, i went to the "chem engin haven" and plunked myself down in front of one of them nondescript terminals and started work. surfacing for air time and again, time flew by. soon, it was night time.. then midnight.. then the wee hours of the morning.. and in a let-there-be-light moment, light poured in through the blinds, blending with the artificial light sources in the room (read: fluorescent lights)

after breakfast, it was back to the books computer, which was bent on getting me all crossed eye and whoozy..
inside that confined space. without noticing, time flew by again.. by that (read: thursday, for those who cannot count the hours, minutes and seconds.) evening, i was already sure i couldnt submit on time. after all, the deadline had already passed..

packing up, i went back.. crashed at 9pm, practically didnt move the whole time i was asleep, woke up at 5am suddenly! (all my troubles seemed so far away..) and though i was quite awake and contemplated continuing, the moment my head hit the pillow, i knocked out again until 12noon..

of coz. other than this episode which i particularly remember in detail, and am quite proud of telling, the other days of the week were not much better.. working well into the night. sleeping napping only when the sun is high up in the sky and waking up nary a few hours later.. its a wonder one week on and im still alive.. and still coherent..

on the line

ive placed my heart on the line. the balls in your court. what are you gonna do with it?

ever felt like everythings out of your control, and nothing you do will change things? so how? what do you do?

you gotta have faith. trust that everything will be alright. believe that things are always for the better.. or is it? accept that whatever happens, youre prepared.

that said...

retirement

and then its over. 4 years in university, 3 years in hall. 3 inter hall games have i partaken in. and that was the last for my "career". as a touch rugby player for hall, as a track runner.

having won touch last year, i took up the responsibility of captain, with a mission to fulfill.. that a champion is not truly a champion by winning, but by winning it again and holding on to it. alas. it was not to be. after all those sweat, blood and tears spilled, all those hours put into training and going through all those moves, perfecting them and making them work in a game, we were unable to make our efforts count.

truth be told, i lost sight of something important in the aftermath of that day. i forgot that even the best teams do not always win, all the time. even champions have their off days. but they bounce back, and work harder, and achieve greater things. i do hope the future teams hold more, now that the solid foundation has been set.

after all. i read this somewhere.. champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. true aint it?

that said, the nostalgia and the reluctance to let go is evident. part of me just dont want to leave my comfort zone, to grow up. i can hardly believe its been 4 years already. while i never was one to be "hall-is-my-everything" kind of person, there is pride and the desire to perform, whenever i don the colours. and not being able to achieve what we set out to. it just crushes you.

minister.of.speed
the title "conferred" to me just last year. what? its been that long already? guess it has stuck. as it is evident..

looking back down the curve. seeing my teammate hurtle towards me. the moment he crosses the line, i set off. bursting down the last of the curve into the straight. "up" he calls and i thrust out my arm. feeling the cool metal smack into my palm. closing my fingers and yanking it away as i sprint down the line. those in front serve as bait. targets for me to lock on and chase. as the gap closes and they are within arms length. alas. the finish line has been reached. no more.

picking up the ball and passing it to a team mate. the spinning ball comes at me like a bullet. plucking it out of the air i take off. bursting down the side as the round the line and go down to score. sure. those will happen again. just not with the same people. not with the same team.

as with all, we have our differences. our shortcomings. but to put everything aside. and play for each other. ones strength covering anothers weakness. thats the stuff champions are made of.

a little update

school has started once again. its been one week of lessons. are you feeling the heat yet? its my final semester and already im not looking forward to the ending of it. truthfully, i hold mixed feelings about my last semester. at the forefront of my mind is the big question of 'how did 4 years pass so damn quickly?!'. lolx.

really. while i look forward to the departure of term tests and final exams and its endless mugging, im not too enthusiastic about venturing out into the working world. maybe its because i already know my future, at least for the next four years, and while i dont regret my decision about it, i sometimes do wish it were different. heh. but oh well.. not like theres much i can do about it..

like they say (this brings to mind.. whos the 'they' everyone seem to always refer to? hmmm...), the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. students always think working is better and vice versa. ill just have to find out. :)

on to better news. grad trip! or better known as the extended holiday after graduating and before starting work! where should i go? what should i plan? who to go with? had a little discussion with a couple of friends on the bus. i commented that im reluctant to stay in backpackers hostels and the likes for my grad trip. and just for fun, i said i wanted to stay in five-star hotels. lolx! hahahah.. after some 'persuasion' from the friends, i lowered my standards to at least a starred hotel. lolx.. while it was said tongue in cheek, i really dont wish to share a room with a communal bathroom and lie under a bed with a fan above me threatening to fall down. so guess itll be budget hotels to compromise, no? i was also toying with the idea of visiting boutique hotels around the world. or at least the places i visit. hehe. how about that? lolx.

so my plans.. i have only thrashed about some ideas in my head. mainly either touring either europe or north america continents for the whole 2 months, assuming i get 2 months of break after graduating, or immersing myself in the culture and life of japan. -grin- that is one very enticing plan. heh. of course. not forgetting the odd trip to hong kong and taiwan for more shopping pleasures besides japan. lolx!

oh well.. its late. enough rambling for me..

burnout? jaded?

whats with me and exams huh? as my years in uni lengthen, my attitude towards exams have seen a shift. do you even remember when, back in the days of secondary school or even jc.. where the mere thought of end of year exams brought crashing down even nerves of steel. now? the air of nonchalance and, dare i even say it, complacency has set in. while i do hope it isnt complacency, i must admit the it is with, for lack of a better word, disregard that i approach each exams.

might it be the seemingly large number of finals? to me this seems to be the case, with the calendar year being split into 2 semesters and each having its own "finals" (on a second thought, the term finals used to bring with it an air of such importance. now? -sigh-). its no wonder that with this increase, i rarely feel a thought of stress or nervousness anymore. afterall, since the days of secondary school, specifically upper secondary, all exams and test didnt matter so much as long the o levels were passes with satisfaction. same goes for jc. that would be an equivalent of 2 years of school before an important "finals"! no wonder..

ah well.. just penning down some thoughts of mine as i strive to force my tired mind to hit the books. but as all ye fellow sufferers of the short attention span syndrome can empathise with, i rather do anything but study. even chores like cleaning up my room or tidying up the notes for the exams that are already over! lolx.

i am jack's complete lack of energy.

just got back from a night of cycling. hall organised night cycling which saw us travel from hall all the way to fort canning, then to clarke quay, supposed to go marina south but bypassed due to time constraints, followed by geylang for bean curd supper (or was it more like breakfast? =p) and lastly east coast park, to return our bikes and await the bus back..

more unique about this night cycling was it was a tandem event, where two people are paired up and together the entire event. how cool is that? haha..

oh well.. nothing much to report. not really in the mood to regurgitate anything..

story of a girl...and sentosa

she was filming a school project in sentosa. he knew. he had also just finished his work and wanted to see her. she hadnt replied in awhile but he knew she was busy filming. the last place sh had said she was was siloso beach. there he went first, after reaching. no sign of her. he knew she hadnt eaten and had to be hungry. but how was he to buy if he didnt even know where to find her?

he strolled around. walking back from siloso to the car park, and on to palawan. thinking of all the places they could be filming at...

and there they were, on the small islet! from far away, he had recognised her silhouette and was positive it was her. she hadnt seen him! unsure of what to do, should he walk up and say hi? he heads to air con comfort and ponders...

he wonders if she will be happy to see him. or will she think hes such an irritant, constantly looking for her, like a thorn in her side...

finally, he decides to just go up to her. show himself. after all, he has nothing to lose and everything to gain. he has learnt that his fears are usually irrational, with no backing evidence. usually leaving him in regret about things he should have just done...

the moment she sees him, the expression in her face, the look of surprise and delight, etched so clearly on her glowing sun burnt face (and it wasnt even coz of the burn that it glows!). everything is worth it for him to see her smile. now hes happy...

she had said that she was initally uncertain if it was him. after all, what was he doing there? but as she closed the dstance between them, doubt slowly turned to realisation...

his fears were irrational once again. stupid emotions that always reared their ugly heads when least wanted. always stirring up uncertainty and invoke fear. banish them!

buaya week

looking at the sun rising for the umpteenth day in a row, im struck at a loss of words for a moment, as i reflect what i have done these past few (six?) weeks since school started. the past week saw me busy as hell with school and then as buaya week started in full swing. whoever said year 4, old already, shouldn’t play, was most definitely wrong! lolx.

i dare suggest im having the most fun buaya week of all 3 years in hall! and that is even when my official buaya has not done a single thing this past 4 days, including a weekend! those who know who she is already suggested she might or might not do anything… guess that kinda prepared me for it already. :) at least I didn’t get my hopes up so not much disappointment there. hahaha..

you know what. i just confirmed for myself how wonderful it feels to be appreciated.

this time around, i decided to focus more on doing stuff for her personally, than to be doing grand stuff to show the whole hall. each has its own merits and difficulties I guess… so it’ll be unfair to declare one is better than the other… but my week has been made by little gestures that my “buayee” has done, like writing little notes (and even with a tinge of lameness! how my kind of joke! Hahaha...) and pointing out silly little points that most would have overlooked!

the best thing, i realised, is not what she’s said to me in the form of her notes (after all, I’m still anonymous to here at this point) but rather, is how word gets round to me that she’s happy with what I’ve done. her neighbours whisper to me in the corridor how much she loves the things ive done, or declare it to me when they catch me doing stuff. lolx.. maybe she just is easy to please, i don’t know. but that doesn’t affect anything does it? :p

handwriting.

so they say... wait.. who's this they everyone talks about? how credible are they? can trust? never mind.. i digress.. LOL..

ya.. so they say, handwriting can give an insight into a persons personality and stuff.. how true is that? maybe i should start studying handwriting, at least scratch the surface of the issue and find out more..

now lets talk about bad handwriting.. who do i think has the worst handwriting? it definitely isnt a doctor, and we all already know how atrocious docters handwritings are.. i cannot hardly fathom how others can actually decipher that scribbling of theirs! what if the pharmacist dispensed the wrong medicine because of bad handwriting?!?! scary thought isnt it? i heard from a friend the reason why doctors handwritings are so bad is coz theyre expected to like write a long, many paged patient history in a certain small amount of time... allow me to verify this but still.. dont think that should be an excuse right? hehe..

i still remember back in primary school.. my teacher used to ask me if i aspired to be a teacher. all because she thought my handwriting was rubbish. lolx.. of course, i never did turn up to be medicine material, and along the way, my handwriting became better (read: legible) so much so that some people even doubt my handwriting! (read: like a girl's! lolx.) but to the best of my knowledge, i "developed" my handwriting style when i was about 15-16, and i was compelled by an ex-girlfriend to mimic. coz i thought hers was beautiful. HAHAHHAHAHAHA..

well. back to my first point. who has the worst handwriting?

what is about to be recounted here is the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God.. never mind.. i digress..

this person, just has to write down inspirations that strike her whenever and wherever. but the problem comes when she tries to read her own scribblings at the end of the day, and find that even she is unable to! LOL!!

ok.. i guess that wasnt so funny after all.. beats me how i could write the whole load of crap above on a as mundane a topic as handwriting. what was i thinking?!

girls are evil

listening to this story recounted to me, i had a sinking feeling that what i knew all along was true. girls are evil. theyre scheming, vengeful..... yet oh-so-cant-live-without-em for us guys...

note to self: never ever get on the wrong side of one of them!

TY was at a club with a bunch of friends and this one friend asked him for help. she said there was a girl she knew from school, who was coming. and one she would like to get back at, after some falling out between them, which was supposedly quite serious.. her plan was for TY to pretend to want to know the "friend" (whom from now henceforth will be known as FT), dance with her.. basically to act all interested, then to let her know that she isnt hot enough for him.

see! didnt i say girls were scheming? that was exactly what i thought when i heard the story! gosh..

anyway.. so the girl was introduced.. in TYs words, she was a whale! that made it all the more difficult for him to fulfill his task! one which he christened "mission impossible". lolx!

and so the story goes. TY discarded his reputation, and introduced himself. offered the girl a drink, and asked her to dance. off to the dance floor they headed, hands interlocked, with another mate to accompany FT's friend. there on the dance floor, the dirty dancing started. in between motions from his mate to kiss her, TY responded with gagging motions! LOL!

sometime later, word passed down that now was the time to strike, to tell her she wasnt hot enough! TY would have been the happiest man in the room sia! but he thought of an even better way. he claimed that after showering her with so much attention, he was going to completely ignore her.

would that really crush her more than telling her straight in the face? share with me some insights please!

which was what TY did. completely ignoring her from then on, and proclaiming a job well done. lolx. now who was saying guys arent helpful? all coz his friend sent him on a mission.

special? unique? same.

"Listen up, maggots. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else."

chemically we are the same.. or are we? biologists will say since our dna are different, we are still not exactly the same. some have more fats, others have more muscles. so different! so are we or are we not?

does it depend on the circumstances. lets say youre going for an interview. keep this thought in mind and im willing to bet you wont get a called up a second time. haha.. but is this statement even true?

should we be settling to be average, the same as everyone else?

do we each possess the potential to stand out?
.

.
next:
- fight club. wonderful! loved it. everyone should watch it... done that already? again!
- american history x. thought provoking... see above. go watch it again!
- full metal jacket. ooohh.. cant wait..
